Bio
Zac is a tall, elegant, left-handed stylist who looks equally adept and just as aesthetically pleasing whether he’s flicking the ball through mid wicket or caressing the ball effortlessly through the cover region.
The worrying aspect for bowling attacks now is that Zac is developing and the more experience he gains the more substance there is coming into his game. He is still only 21 and while potential and talent have always been intrinsically associated to his name, signs of more significant and match defining contributions in the way he builds his innings offer further indications of excitement.
The young Aussie has spent all his cricketing days with the University of Tasmania, all the way from Milo cricket to first grade, where he is now an established and important part of the middle order in the Tasmania Premer League.
He debuted for the Uni in 2018 and made his maiden half-century at the age of just 16 against a strong Kingborough attack. Alongside his cricket commitments with Uni of Tasmania, he also played representative cricket for his state with the u15’s, u17’s and u19’s, while also turning out for Tasmania 2’s in a solitary appearance (so far) back in 2021.
To highlight how highly thought of he is, not just in Tasmania, selection in the Australia u19 extended squad in 2021 was further evidence of this, where he joined the squad on pre-World Cup camps and matches.
For the majority of his cricket he has been at the top of the order, anchoring the innings and trying to ensure he’s there at the end of the overs as often as possible where his game can expand. In recent times that role has been refined with a place in the middle order. His ability to play spin well and work the old ball round has prompted the shift while allowing his more natural power game to come more to the fore.
He can also be relied upon to squeeze an innings during the middle overs with the ball, hammering away on a length having recently returned to turning his arm over.
In 2024 Zac played his first season in the UK signing for Marple in the first division of the Cheshire County Cricket League. After a slow start Zac became accustomed to conditions and gradually began showing his qualities to finish amongst the leading runscorers in the league with a solid 621 league run tally. Further signs of his ability to understand how better to build an innings of significance came in August with two back-to-back unbeaten centuries against Davenham and Oulton Park respectively. The latter of the two (against Oulton Park) was pivotal in guiding his side to a three-wicket victory in chasing down 238.
Zac also more than chipped in with a few wickets, picking up 23 league wickets at 24.52 with his medium pace.
Keen to return to the UK and test himself further, Zac easily integrates into a club, loves a round of golf and a couple of cold ones.
