    Bio

Tarryck is a hugely talented cricketer from St. Lucia who represented the Windward Islands in 14 first-class matches and a single List A game.

His first-class debut came at the end of 2016 when he was selected to play against the Leeward Islands and his 30 (including a couple of sixes) in the second innings showed he wasn’t overawed despite facing current WI spearhead Alzarri Joseph and the twin spin threat of Rahkeem Cornwall and Hayden Walsh.

An average of just under 20 for Windward Islands might not do justice to his obvious ability that was already evident before his professional bow, having played all through the age groups with the Windward Islands. His sparkling form in the under-19 limited-overs tournament in 2012, where he averaged 50, forced his way into the West Indies under-19’s side for a series against Bangladesh in 2013.

Tarryck may not have gone on to reach the heights of his WI teammates from that series (yet) – Nic Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie, Jofra Archer – but there’s certainly no shame in that and to have played alongside such names is an achievement in itself and can only improve your game playing with them.

Successive half centuries during the 2018/19 season opening the batting reaffirmed the qualities Gabriel possesses and has been the stand out performances of his professional career to date.

Since losing favour with the Windward Islands, Tarryck has continued to impress with the bat and ball playing club/ district cricket in St Lucia.

Tarryck has enjoyed four previous seasons in the UK so is fully versed on the conditions he will encounter in 2025, three of those seasons coming during his early years back in 2014, 2015 and 2016, two of those with Halesowen CC in the Birmingham & District Premier League and one with Stourbridge CC in the same league.

His most recent season in the UK came in 2021 with Chichester Priory Park CC of the Sussex Cricket League Division Two, he was the leading run scorer at the club (sixth in the league) making just under 500 runs in 14 games at an average just shy of 40.

The St Lucian has the kind of attitude and work ethic that can only inspire fellow players at a club, instead of lamenting his exile from first-class cricket he has simply worked harder. He understands his game more as a batsman now, areas where he can score and the discipline to bat time and make the most of getting in. Time away from the game due to other work commitments and to help look after his new-born child have given him a fresh perspective and he’s more determined than ever to make the most of the talent he has been given and share the knowledge accumulated with anyone that has the good sense to listen.
