Fortune is a quick bowler…..and he likes bowling quick! With Mark Wood as a role model surely bowling rockets is the only thing he would want to do?

Fortune bounds to the crease with urgency, determined to propel each ball down as fast as possible. That approach saw him gain first-class recognition at the age of just 19 with Zimbabwean franchise Mountaineers in the Logan Cup. It may have come a fraction too soon for him but it certainly showed the talent and potential that the selectors saw in him.

The young quick turned out for Mountaineers on five occasions during that 2022/23 season and while his stats may not look impressive, the amount he learnt from that early introduction has already helped develop Fortune into a more complete pace man.

To just talk about Fortune’s pace, however, would do a disservice to the skills he has with the ball in hand. He gets good shape into the right-handers both through the air and off the pitch and creates a lovely angle against the lefties.

In Zimbabwe’s Premier club tournament, Fortune plays his cricket at Westside CC and has put in many significant contributions with the ball. In the recently concluded 50-over competition he picked up 16 wickets at 19.69.

Keen to continue learning his trade and developing his skills, a season in the UK would not only help take his game on it would give a club a committed, quick, skilful pace man who is excited to come and show the UK what he can do top orders in this country.
