Bio
Aniket is a very highly regarded spin bowler in India that has the unique ability to bowl consistently high level spells of off-spin and leg-spin bowling.
To attract attention in India as a spin bowler you need a point of difference, something that sets you apart from the plethora of highly talented slow bowlers in the country. The fact Aniket has attended several IPL training camps, the most recent being early 2024 when he was offered the opportunity to bowl at the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, suggests he has that something extra.
In 2018 he was selected for the North East India team and played an under-19 tournament where he impressed with not just his talented off-spin but his ability with the bat too.
Aniket’s studies for his engineering degree did temporarily pause his spin bowling career but he returned as the leading wicket-taker in an All-India competition snaring 16 scalps in the five matches.
The talented twirler did not set out to become a spin bowler but found he had a natural ability to turn the ball and over time introduced the more subtle yet skilful elements to his craft. A lot of hours have gone into developing his leg spin to the same standard as his offies which shows his love for the game as well as his dedication. He can also take the ball away from the right-hander in a more discreet fashion utilising his doosra.
His off spin action is not dissimilar to his spin bowling idol Ravi Ashwin as he tries to impart as many revs on the ball as his fingers and wrist will allow. Having played several T20 tournaments around the country Aniket can either restrict the runs or attack in search of wickets.
As for his batting, Aniket is not your typical wristy Indian strokemaker with a penchant for a T20 ‘give it a slap’ innings, instead he puts a large value on his wicket. Slightly more orthodox he is considered an accumulator of runs rather than a player brought up on a diet of big hits.
Shaw is an exceptionally enthusiastic young cricketer that loves the sport. He’s keen to expand his knowledge, his skill sets and experiences by playing his first season in the UK in 2025.
