  • Bio:

Cooper is a very promising young pace bowler that makes the most of his 6’4” frame and delivers the ball from a high release point. Although a young bowler he is capable of bowling to a plan, attacking with the new ball searching for his natural away swing delivery, before returning in the middle overs hitting a hard length. More than capable of bowling the death/powerplay overs too.

Continually looking to test himself during his brief career to date and always searching for improvements and to challenge himself at higher levels, whether that has been through representative cricket for various junior teams or moving clubs as he did in 2022/23 when he joined Wollongong DCC in the Cricket Illawarra league.

He made an instant impression taking 3-12 on his second grade debut and was soon called up to the first grade side where he quickly established himself as a regular for the rest of the season. He managed 17 first grade wickets at 16.82 and very rarely went round the park, going at 3.09 runs per over overall.

He built on that success in his first season by taking another 28 wickets in 23/24 at a very impressive 13.32 becoming a reliable member of the bowling unit.

Cooper played his formative years at his local cricket club Berry Shoalhaven Heads Magpies playing his way through all the age groups before working through the grades. By the time he was 15 he was already on his way to becoming a regular first grader. He played Shoalhaven reps with the U12’s, U14’s, U16’s and U18’s and also featured for Greater Illawarra Marlins and the Greater Illawarra Academy.

He is keen to continue learning his craft and is certainly not afraid to put the hard work in. With the bat the young Aussie has a capable technique and is only too aware and able to work the ball around in order to provide support in building a partnership and can jump on the bad ball too.

While Cooper doesn’t have an official coaching qualification, he does work with the juniors at his club, mainly with the young bowlers to help pass on what he’s learnt so far.

A committed and enthusiastic young cricketer that is keen to immerse himself in UK club cricket, Cooper would be a great signing for a club looking for a young quick with bags of potential.
